Summer on the Beach

There’s always something to do in Augusta, especially throughout the summer months. Our region hosts special events and offers many activities and there is something for everyone. This summer, learn something new or try a different local restaurant or shop. And, don’t miss these must-do summer activities that are listed below.

Enjoy a day at the Lake.  Bring your loved ones for a fun day at the lake and don’t forget the sunscreen!

Clarks Hill Lake Pack a picnic and head down to one of CSRA’s public lakes. Nothing cools you off better, like a dip in freshwater. Clarks Hill Lake has it all: swimming, camping grounds, picnic areas, boat, and ski rentals, and parks.

Richardson Lake Richardson’s Lake is the perfect escape close to home. This small water park offers a sandy lake beach, slides and diving boards, a volleyball area, and a snack bar!

Visit the Augusta Market.  Support our local businesses and shop by the river. Tucked alongside Downtown’s Riverwalk, is where you will find a crowd favorite-The Augusta Market. The Augusta Market is Saturday morning’s hotspot for local vendors, street performers, and all kinds of quirky surprises with art around every corner. This vendor market offers a broad selection of locally produced and grown goods, arts and crafts, food trucks, and other products and services by small businesses in the area. From adoption kennels to live music, there is something for everyone.

Watch a movie under the stars.  Come on out to Big Mo for a unique movie experience at the drive-in movie! The Monetta Drive-In (aka Big Mo) offers three double features each weekend during the spring, summer, and fall for the price of a single movie.

Frolic through a Splash Pad. Now that temperatures are in the high 90s, sometimes the best solution to cool off is to just get wet! Thankfully, there are plenty of local parks that offer splash pads! Bring the kids- let them run through the water. They’ll have a blast and best of all these splash zones are free or nearly so. Here is a list of local splash pads to enjoy this summer.
