Augusta, GA is home to many public and private colleges attracting students from all around the world. Each has its own strengths and offers a varied selection of educational programs. Combined, there are over 100 degree programs aligned to real-world occupations. 

Here is a glance at colleges and universities around Augusta.


Augusta Technical College: Augusta Technical College offers 100+ Credit Programs of Study, Non-Credit Industry Training, and Adult Education preparation. ATC is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award Associate Degrees, Diplomas, and Technical Certificates of Credit.

Augusta University: The Board of Regents defines Augusta University as Georgia's health/sciences/medical college. AU is a comprehensive research university offering more than 150 areas of study, across ten colleges through undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs.

Dental College of Georgia at AU: We provide dental education to the next generation of professionals by offering hands-on education through innovative research, patient care, and service. Join other dental providers to improve the oral health of Georgia and beyond.

The DCG was founded to provide the people of Georgia with quality dental care by educating students in dentistry. As a patient, you have the option to receive treatment in one of our three different practice models consisting of student clinics, resident care, or in the faculty practice.  All dental treatments can be completed by the specialists in our facility.  We also serve patients in more than 20 clinics across Georgia. 

East Augusta College: As an EGSC-A student, you have access to a unique partnership between East Georgia State College and Augusta University located in the heart of Augusta. At the EGSC-A, students have the opportunity to complete their first 30 hours of core credit on Augusta University’s Summerville campus as well as the option of nearly 100 co-enrollment classes. The programs at EGSC-A are taught by dedicated and experienced faculty in an intimate classroom setting that ensures personal interactions between the professor and students.

Georgia Military College: Georgia Military College (GMC) is an accredited public-independent liberal arts college with twelve community college campuses throughout the state of Georgia, serving both residential cadets and non-cadet/non-residential commuter students and intercollegiate athletes. A primary focus of Georgia Military College is awarding Associate Degrees and preparing students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. 

Medical College Of GA at AU: The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation’s largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG’s expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full  spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs.

Miller Motte College Located on the Georgia-South Carolina state line, Augusta is the perfect place to start your career training with Miller-Motte College. Miller-Motte offers career-focused technical training to students looking to enter the workforce in as little as 1 to 20 months. 

Paine College: Paine College is a private, historically black college that offers an excellent education for undergraduates, graduates and technical students. It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.

Students who want to take on college prep courses should consider the steps below:

  1. Meet with HS guidance counselors. The guidance counselor will advise on what classes to take to make sure you are on a college track.

  2. Engage in Extracurricular Activities: College applications with high-quality extracurricular activities are highly attractive to admissions officers. 

  3. Prepare for Tests: Colleges look at SAT scores as a factor for admission, so you will want to get the highest marks that you can
